MUSEUM GROUNDS The Pioneer Museum consists of 3.5 acres of historic buildings that have been donated by founding families of Gillespie County. At your own leisurely pace, walk through the historic homesteads and glimpse into the everyday lives of the pioneers of Fredericksburg. Among the historic buildings are homesteads, a one-room schoolhouse, a log cabin, a Sunday house, a bath house, a barn, a smokehouse and a fire department museum which displays pieces of early 20th century firefighting equipment.
Located at 325 W Main Street, the museum grounds are shaded by large pecan trees and landscaped with native plants.
GIFT SHOP Take a piece of Fredericksburg and a piece of Texas home with you from our Museum Gift Shop. The Gift Shop features:
large selection of books about the local history as well as Texas history
gift items handcrafted by local Fredericksburg artists
children's corner with books, stuffed animals and old-fashioned toys

Located in the heart of Fredericksburg in the Marketplatz stands the Vereins Kirche. The original Vereins Kirche (which was demolished in 1896) was the first public building in Fredericksburg and served as a town hall, school, fort and church for all denominations. The current structure was built in 1935 and stands as a tribute to the courage and vision of Fredericksburg's founders and pioneers.
Inside the Vereins Kirche, exhibits introduce visitors to the stories of Fredericksburg's past. Also browse through the selections of books and gift items.
