A tradition for kids from toddlers to age 10. Bring your basket and find treat-filled eggs on the grounds. Separate hunting areas appropriate to age groups so all will have a great time. The Easter Bunny always makes this a stop on his tour to pose for photos. This year the City of Fredericksburg is hosting a "Guess How Many" Game. Four bicycles donated by Walmart will be given away to the closet guesser in four different age groups.

Founders Day Wreath Laying Ceremony

To continue honoring John O Meusebach - the founder of Fredericksburg - and other founding families, Pioneer Museum and the Gillespie County Historical Society will host a Founder’s Day Wreath Laying at Marktplatz on May 5, 2018 at 10 am. Descendants of founding families, including Meusebach descendants, will be in attendance. The public is invited to join.

Free admission all day in celebration of Founders Day! Free BBQ sliders from 11am-1pm. On this day in 1846, the first 120 settlers arrived in Fredericksburg from New Braunfels. These families as well as those whose names are listed in the 1850 census are considered "founders" of Fredericksburg.
Come tour the buildings on the grounds of the Pioneer Museum. Hear the story of the those who founded Fredericksburg... of those who were looking for a better life... who risked everything to get to a land of limitless opportunity... of those who tenaciously faced every obstacle and created a unique German colony in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
