We're eager to tell you the story of how Friederichsburg of 1846 became Fredericksburg of 2017.
We have two sites for you to visit.
        PIONEER MUSEUM - 325 W Main
VEREINS KIRCHE - On the town square in the middle of downtown

Parking: There is free parking along Main Street in front of the Pioneer Museum and along the side on Milam Street. The Vereins Kirche is the iconic coffee mill shaped building downtown in the middle of Marktplatz where there is usually plenty of free curb parking.

Length of time to visit the Pioneer Museum:  You'll want to begin by watching a 12-minute video that gives a quick overview of our origins entitled "Finding Fredericksburg". Then tour 10 historic buildings at your own pace. They are filled with daily life artifacts from the 1840s through the 1930s. Each building also has a 2-minute audio interpretation, some featuring the voices of descendant of the original owners. It takes the better part of an hour at a leisurely pace. You will be outdoors between buildings, so we have umbrellas if needed. All of our buildings are not handicap accessible.

The Vereins Kirche (Society Church) is a replica of the first public building constructed in Fredericksburg and now houses other exhibits telling our story. It takes about a half hour to see the permanent exhibits and another half hour to see our temporary exhibits that change roughly every 6 weeks. See the exhibits schedule at our Exhibit Schedule page.

Places to eat and shop in close proximity to the Pioneer Museum and Vereins Kirche:  We are located at 325 W Main at what is known as Uptown, two blocks from Marktplatz. We're in the midst of restaurants, a coffee house, a natural foods market with "grab and go" selections, art galleries and other shops.  We have public restrooms in our Gift Shop. The Vereins Kirche, is just two blocks away in the town square at Marketplaz (the park in the middle of downtown), where there are dozens of restaurants and shops. Public restrooms are on the square.
